01 Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using desi.cards ("Desi Cards", "the site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Abhishek, operating Desi Cards, a sole proprietorship based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India ("we", "us", "our").

02 What Desi Cards is (and isn't)

Desi Cards is a free, independent calculator that helps you compare Indian credit cards and compute a recommended card portfolio based on your spending. It is:

  • A tool that runs math on publicly published card terms
  • Independent of any bank, card issuer, or financial institution
  • Free to use, with no subscription, signup, or payment

Desi Cards is not:

  • A bank, card issuer, or lender
  • A credit broker or distribution partner
  • A SEBI-registered investment adviser
  • A substitute for professional financial, tax, or legal advice

03 Not financial advice

Nothing on Desi Cards constitutes financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, legal advice, or any kind of professional recommendation. The optimizer's output is a mathematical projection of rewards based on:

  • The card terms published by each bank, as they stood on our last verification date
  • The spending profile and preferences you provide
  • A set of assumptions about how rewards, caps, and milestones compound over a year

Actual rewards will vary based on: changes in card terms (banks devalue cards regularly), your actual spending patterns diverging from your inputs, merchant categorization decisions made by the card network, and factors we cannot anticipate.

Card approval is at the sole discretion of each bank and depends on your income, credit history (CIBIL / Experian / Equifax / CRIF), existing relationship with the bank, and the bank's internal criteria. We cannot guarantee you will be approved for any card we recommend.

Before applying for any credit card, you should read the bank's Most Important Terms and Conditions (MITC) in full, understand the fees and interest rates, and consider whether the card fits your financial situation. If you're unsure, consult a qualified financial adviser, chartered accountant, or lawyer.

In plain English

Use our numbers as a starting point, not a decision. We try to be accurate, but you're the one swiping the card and paying the bill — the final call is yours, and the responsibility for it is yours too.

04 Accuracy of your inputs

The optimizer's recommendations are only as good as the information you provide. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of:

  • Your declared income and its relevance to card eligibility
  • Your declared monthly spending across categories
  • Your declared memberships, preferred merchants, and excluded cards

If you enter inaccurate information — for instance, inflating your income to qualify for premium cards you cannot actually afford — the recommendations we produce will be misaligned with your real situation, and any consequences are your responsibility. Banks independently verify income and creditworthiness before approval; do not treat our recommendations as a shortcut around that verification.

05 Our card database & intellectual property

The card database that powers Desi Cards — including each card's earn rules, fees, caps, milestones, benefits, and our scoring methodology — is the result of substantial research and editorial work by us. It is protected by copyright and database rights under Indian law.

You are welcome to:

  • Use the site's tools for your personal, non-commercial financial decisions
  • Share individual card pages, blog posts, or optimizer results with friends

You may not:

  • Scrape, crawl, or automate the extraction of data from the site
  • Redistribute, sell, license, or republish any portion of our card database, blog content, or site design

  • Use our trademarks, logo, or brand identity without express written permission

Card names, bank names, issuer logos, and network marks (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay, American Express) are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here for identification purposes only under fair use.

06 Permitted and prohibited use

You agree to use Desi Cards only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You will not:

  • Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site or its infrastructure
  • Introduce viruses, trojans, worms, or other malicious code

07 Third-party banks and services

When you follow a link from Desi Cards to a bank's website to apply for a card, you leave our site and enter a relationship governed by that bank's own terms, conditions, and privacy policies. We are not party to any application you make, any contract you enter with a bank, or any dispute arising between you and a bank.

Desi Cards currently earns no referral commissions from any bank for applications originated through our site. If this changes, we will update these Terms and our Privacy Policy and disclose the commercial relationship clearly on affected pages.

08 Availability & changes

We aim to keep Desi Cards available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The site may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or factors outside our control.

We may add, remove, or modify features, cards, or content at any time without notice. Card data is updated on an ongoing basis to reflect changes in bank terms, but there may be a delay between a change being announced by a bank and reflected on our site. Each card page shows its last-verified date — treat that date, not today's date, as the freshness of the information.

09 Limitation of liability

Desi Cards is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose of the content or tools on this site.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Indian law, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Desi Cards — whether in contract, tort, negligence, or any other legal theory — is limited to ₹1,000 (one thousand Indian rupees).

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to: lost rewards, lost savings, denied card applications, CIBIL score impact, fees incurred, interest paid, or any financial decisions made on the basis of the site's output.

You use Desi Cards at your own discretion and risk. This limitation reflects the free, informational, non-advisory nature of the service.

10 Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on this page, revise the "Last updated" date above, and give at least 7 days' notice through an on-site notice before the changes take effect.

Continued use of Desi Cards after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes acceptance of those Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the site.

11 Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Desi Cards is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
